All visitors intending to travel to Bhutan must obtain a visa before their journey. However, please note that citizens from India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives are exempt from this requirement, and the respective procedures and fees for these countries are detailed separately.

As an integral part of the visa application process, travelers are obligated to pay the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), which amounts to US$100 per day per adult. Additionally, a non-refundable, one-time visa application fee of US$40 is applicable.

Visitors from India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives

Visitors from India require a permit. You may apply for this before travelling here, or if you’re travelling with us, we are there to guide you through.

You may choose to apply at the entry point, but anticipate potential delays based on applicant volume. For on-arrival permit requests, have a passport-size photograph ready. Ensure you possess travel insurance covering your entire visit, available for prearrangement or on-site purchase. Your SDF payment is due when you apply for your permit, online or in person.

Visitors from Bangladesh and the Maldives need a visa, and the application process is identical to that described for Indian nationals. You have the option to apply online, pay the necessary SDF in advance, and arrange your travel insurance prior to your trip, or you can handle these requirements in person upon arrival.
